The more the book went on, the more Charlie started to express his feelings. Through the novel, Charlie started to show a pattern of anger but did not think of it to be an important factor to the story. Then there was this part when Charlie explains how the doctor told his mom that he might have to stop playing sports because he was getting too aggressive. “ I used to play sports when I was little and I was actually very good, but the problem was that it used to make me too aggressive, so the doctors told my mom I would have to stop”. (Pg.52). This quotation explains quite a bit. It explains that the doctor noticed something strange about Charlie and his anger. The doctor brought attention to the problem to his parents because he thought it was important and showed some concern. So it seems that Charlie’s anger does not just come occasionally but is a part of him. Its a character trait to watch for. It gives the readers a little bit of questioning on why Charlie is this way and what happened. Sometimes, Charlie gets to the point where he his so angry and mad that he threatens people and tells them that he will violently hurt them instead of staying calm and dealing with the problem in a good reasonable way. “If you ever do this again, I’ll tell everyone. And if that does not work, I’ll blind you.” (Pg.151). When Charlie got in a fight with Brad and his teammates to try and help his not so much ‘friend” Patrick, he let his anger get the best of him. He violently got involved and hurt Brad’s football teammates who were attacking Patrick. But if he was like anyone else, he could have gotten a teacher or yell at them to stop instead of choosing to fight. This led him threatening Brad. Sounds like he was pretty angry and mad. Charlie’s anger is coming from the inside. By something he is feeling or thinking. He might not even know where the anger is coming from but whatever it is, his anger is a mystery and this is
