Looks are deceiving, yet it is human nature to draw conclusions based on appearances. A simple item of clothing can indirectly speak upon the individual and categorize them into social status groups. Many films, rely on this bodily sense to engage their audience and bring a story to life. The film Perks of Being a Wallflower directed by Stephen Chbosky, successfully uses costume design to depict the character’s personality and illustrate their backstory.
Among the Films most conflicted character’s there lies Charlie. He is portrayed as a highly introverted freshman who doesn’t allow for attention to be drawn upon himself. The top portion of the dress was all black and the bottom was a dark red floral print underneath a black sheer tulle.
