Results
The results of this study are that cardiovascular exercise has been inversely related to the risk of breast cancer development in perimenopausal women. Exercise has been been proven to decrease estrogen levels in the body. High estrogen has been shown to increase the risk for breast cancer. By exercising, perimenopausal women are decreasing their risk for breast cancer due to lower estrogen levels. There were 15 scholarly articles used to get these results. A few of the articles focused on how exercise reduces the level of estrogen in the body of perimenopausal women. Other articles focused on how increased levels of estrogen increased the risk of breast cancer in premenopausal women. This study focused on how daily cardiovascular exercise,

Women between ages 45-60 who participated in 5 hours of intensive exercise per week, were found to be at a 20% reduced risk of developing breast cancer (Bevers, 2010). In addition, a study evaluated the effect of exercise on women with breast cancer, and discovered that those that exercised more were less likely to pass from the disease (Kapoor, 2016). Another study compared a case group of women on an exercise regimen and a control group of women without one. This study noticed a reduced risk of breast cancer in the case group, and conducted a 10 year follow up and had the same findings with women who remained on the regimen (Huiyan, 2016). Another article had all subjects apart of an exercise routine, but compared exercise style to asses the risk of breast cancer. The subjects in this study all had preexisting breast cancer, and was gauging symptoms. After the trial was completed, it was noted that women in the water exercise classes noticed a greater improvement in symptoms (Fernández-lao, C., Cantarero-villanueva, I., Ariza-garcia, A., Courtney, C., Fernández-de-las-peñas, C., & Arroyo-morales, M. (2013). This was attributed to the atmosphere of the class, but all participants-land exercise included- did notice a decrease in symptom intensity (Fernandez, 2013).
