People learn to think for themselves. They do not need anyone to think for them because they have their own ideas to share and contribute to the conversation to make improvements. They learn to be an upbeat, optimistic employee. These people know how to create a unique work environment with new ideas. Every business requires creativity, people with degrees in performing arts help foster that creativity and they can bring positive energy to the workplace. These employees will be hardworking- knowing that if they fail try, try again- they would accomplish great things. They do not think like regular people without this degree as in thinking in hours, people with a performing arts degree tend to think in terms of production. Their students will know this by their instructor’s words and actions. Instructors, if they have a true passion for their art will always manage to bring out the very best in a child who has the willingness to learn. Great instructors know how to connect with students on many different levels from “emotional” to a “shaking my head.” Teachers of the arts know how to communicate their knowledge of the basics and build upon that so that they themselves are eventually useless to the student. All performing art teachers will admit that they are still a student themselves constantly learning new techniques to teach their students. GHMS 7th/8th bands were invited in December of 2012 to travel to Chicago and perform as the “clinic” band for Dr. John Pasquale, Director of the Michigan Marching and Athletic Bands.
