Men, women and even young teenagers take steroids to help enhance their skills. Depending on the type of sport the user takes part in, determines the amount of dosage the athletes will take. Wrestlers and swimmers for example may take fewer amounts of doses because it requires less physical punishment to the body, which is why people hear less about athletes taking steroids. Football on the other hand has more steroid users because of the physical beating they take from hard hits and contact on every play. That is why the National Football League has many bans on performance drugs and has daily testing to make sure none of the players are taking steroids (Johnson 2). Painkillers help with taking the pain away and being able to play with an injury, but risk causing more damage to the injury and permanent damage. Painkillers are an addictive drug that if taken too much would lead to coma or death. Stimulants help by speeding up the heart and making the body fully awake and on alert.
