I remember my grade school teacher scolding me for being very perfectionist when I was a tyke. It was music class and I was grouped with a boy who clearly doesn’t have the “voice”. So before we could even have our first group, I already exclaimed that we won’t succeed because of this boy. I told my group members that he should just stick to the props and leave the singing to us.…

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to free themselves from the way they are perceived; they must create a new identity for themselves apart from how they are perceived by their peers. They must explain why they need to overcome these false perceptions in order to live their lives as they see fit. We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all people deserve to be free from judgement. We are often forced to live the way others perceive us.…
When I first started my High School years I had really high expectations than I did in elementary school or even in middle school. I really wanted to make straight A’s and make the highest on all the tests. I have changed some since then I have realized I do not always have to have highest grades or all A ’s as long as I pass the class. I have made A’s, B’s and one C since I started High School I had never made a C before I was really upset.…
Since day one of my freshmen year, I knew I wanted to make my education count 100%. Throughout my life, I’ve had my fair share of good and bad decisions but the best decision of my life was to get my grades straight and focus on school. For the past two and a half years, i’ve put my absolute best into coming out on top and so far i’ve succeeded. Being invited into the National Honors Society is definitely one of my biggest accomplishments that i’m very proud of. When I was a bit younger, around seventh or eighth grade, my grades weren’t anything I took a lot of pride in.…
I am honored to be considered for the National Honor Society program at Bryan High School. To me when I hear that someone is part of this program I imagine a student that is equally prepared intellectually and is also involved in the community. The qualities that a student in NHS should possess are scholarship, leadership, service, and character all these qualities make a good leader and great a role model to others. I believe that I have all the qualities listed to be a successful member of NHS. Growing up, my parents drove into me and my sisters to be good exemplary kids, they told us to be mature and responsible with our grades and how we interacted with others.…

I considered myself to be an anomaly of a high school student. Being a Latino Student, the odds were not in my favor that I was enrolled at a four-year institution. Furthermore, I differed greatly from tradition Latino students as I was 4th generation college student. I came from a college educated Latino family. Although most of my family was educated in Peru, many have since immigrated to the United States acquiring jobs that utilize their foreign college degrees.…
Research indicates that the type of perfectionism, unhealthy or healthy, is a determinant of the ultimate outcome the athlete…
I obsess over my grades, fine tuning the details down to the wire. The work I do is always wrong—even though I have verified it through three credible sources already. Or I’ve said the wrong words and now they are never going to talk to me again—even though I said those thoughtless phrases three weeks ago and no one never addressed it. You aren’t smart enough. You did something wrong.…
“Hey dad, I got a B- on my math test.” “Hmm, not bad, but you can do better.” This is just one of the reasons why I don’t voluntarily tell my parents when I have a test or quiz, or how I did on it. Kids today are under too much pressure to succeed in school from their parents. It is a changing the way kids view school.…
Whenever we have a locker cleanout I don’t have to clean because I always make sure my locker is organized otherwise it will annoy me. Even when desks or anything else are uneven I it irritates me until it is. I remember in third grade we took a test to see how much of a perfectionist you are and I got a score that went over the rankings which meant that I was such a perfectionist, it was unhealthy.…
I am a perfectionist. Ever since I was young, my parents have always pressured me to achieve the very best in life. My parents got divorced before I was born and they always told me that I could be anything I wanted as long as it was a better life than the one they had growing up. This has caused my childhood to be plagued with a desire to succeed in everything I do. I get irritated by the idea that I have achieved anything less than a B as a grade or the fact that I am even five minutes late to anything.…
No amount of regret can change the past. No amount of anxiety can change the future. One day at a time. One moment at a time. The only way out is through.…
My Action Plan During this semester, I have discovered useful information about myself, and as I move forward, I will be using the various learning tools and skills. However, before deciding how to improve my methods of learning plan, I took the time to review my transcripts/advising worksheet. By doing this, it has helped me determine exactly how many credits I have left, along with the type of classes. Including those, which are not part of my core curriculum. I need forty-nine credits overall, I have eighteen scheduled over the next two semesters, which includes the ones I am taking right now.…
