Hi Morgan, thanks for your great discussion post. The red flags in the scenario where the patient returning to the clinic numerous times and on his most recent visit he requested Percocet. I asked myself why Percocet, has he ever been on Percocet, and if so, how and where did he get the medication? Opioids, such as Percocet are readily addictive. According to U. S. Food and Drug Administration (2016), opioids are addictive and individuals taking these medications should be monitored and warned about the addictive natures of opioids. Jonathan behavior appears to be drug seeking. After discussing it with him, I would find it necessary to refer him to a counselor and work in conjunction with a pain management provider to offer him help.
