PepsiCo Company-History and Mission Statement

In today’s world, nearly everybody consumes a beverage every day of which, most of what we consume, is either a soft drink or hot beverages in the form of tea or coffee. The beverage business has in the modern world emerged as the top prayer with worlds renowned companies such as Coca Cola and PepsiCo being the leaders. In our study, we will focus on the history and mission statement of the PepsiCo Company.
History and Background

The advertising campaigns would later shift to the niche market of the African American for whom over the years had been ignored by competitors such as coca-cola. This saw PepsiCo use racism as a selling point accusing coca-cola of its reluctance in hiring blacks. It worked out excellently and for the first time PepsiCo market share in Chicago city surpassed that of coca-cola (Pennstate, 2009).
Among its renowned brands, the Pepsi cola was registered under the US patents for trademarks on 16th June 1903. Not only this early licensing that gave PepsiCo recognition, but the embracement to transform from horse drawn mode of transport to motor vehicle as early as 1908 was also another hallmark. Later in 1938, PepsiCo would secure trademark registration in the Soviet Union. In the following periods, the PepsiCo will subsequently launch its other brands as such, a notable one the Diet Pepsi in 1964 (PepsiCo, 2012).
From the period of forties to date, PepsiCo has made significant marketing strategies especially on the side of advertisement. This has added to a whole competitive world of advertisement strategies of which have seen other business entities adopting in their campaigns. Over the years there have been changes in PepsiCo products taglines and slogans.
In its adverts, PepsiCo has featured celebrities in the world of music such as Michael Jackson, Lionel Richie and Tina Turner, as well as those in sports activities, such as Shaquille O’Neal. PepsiCo advertising
