In today’s world, a majority of people in society is obsessed with the idea of looking “perfect” and maintaining that healthy body. The rapid growth in advertisements trying to persuade the world that looking “perfect” is so simple if you simply try their new “diet” and “healthy” versions of all types of snacks and beverages has taken a toll on society. An example of this type of advertising is visibly illustrated in the, “new skinny can” ad for Diet Pepsi. The Pepsi ad provides an image in people’s minds which portrays how while drinking soda, your visual appearance can still look stunning, this ad deliberately uses a compelling image that draws the audience in.

The actress that is used to advertise this bestselling new beverage is Sofia Vergara, a well-known celebrity who is known for her healthy eating habits.

They begin asking themselves a series of questions which, once again, is exactly what the advertisers are trying to accomplish. How does it work? Will it leave me with a thin and beautiful figure? Will I resemble the celebrity being used in the advertisement after drinking this new can of pepsi? Each of these questions rolls through the minds of the viewers as their attention is caught by those four simple words.

Ethos, pathos and logos are vividly portrayed throughout this advertisement in order to effectively drill the message into the minds of the viewers that drinking soda can still leave you feeling healthy and better than ever. The usage of color, props and Vergara in this ad, lead viewers eagerly ready to open up a “skinny” can of Diet Pepsi and begin their journey to that “perfect” body. This ad successfully wins over the viewers by grabbing their full attention and persuading consumers to do away with any other beverage and replace them with Diet
