When a patient comes to the IR department for a lung biopsy, the patient is fearful, afraid of the unknown, they fear what we will find, will it hurt, how long will it take to do the biopsy, how long will it take to get the results, will I be sleeping or awake, will it be difficult to breathe, do I have to stay in the hospital? Patients have so many questions when they arrive for their procedure. I apply Peplau’s theory in my work every day start every procedure by identifying the patient and introducing myself, I ask the patient what are we going to do for you today? I compare the physician order and what the patient states he is having done.
