Oct. 17, 2016 Why Peoria Notre Dame Needs a New School
Peoria Notre Dame (PND) was not the original school. It started out as Bergan High School. Bergan High School was opened in 1964 because the influx of baby boomers and the movement towards northern Peoria. The school was built quick and cheap just like many schools of this era. Then in 1988 the disease merged the three catholic. Spalding Academy, Academy of our Lady, and Bergen were merged into the Bergen ‘Campus’ now known as Peoria Notre Dame. Many people were not happy with this decision. The building is now 52 years old and studies show most schools more than 40 years old that were built in this era are abandoned or destroyed.
