Proposed Methods The fieldwork for this study will be conducted along the Gulf Coast region in the state of Florida, otherwise known as the panhandle, which contains Pensacola Beach. The group will break up Pensacola Beach into four sections: 1) Casino Beach, 2) Avenida 18, 3) Portofino Beach, and 4) parking lot H (figure 1). The reason why Pensacola Beach was broken into four parts is to the parts which are Casino Beach and Portofino Beach are more tourest-based whereas, Avenida 18 and parking lot H are known by the locals to be less crowded. This is why both Casino Beach and Portofino Beach surveys were done during class time on Thursday july 27,2017 to obtain closer amounts of people; however, Portofino Beach did not have enough people …show more content…
During class time on Thursday, the group that contains three people set up a UWF tent at Casino Beach and one member of the team stayed at the tent to administer the survey the other two members went in opposite directions and started surveying beachgoers that were already set up on the beach. When getting ready to approach a potential person to take the survey members had taken into consideration if that person was busy watching a child or doing something that the person would not want to be interrupted. The people that were selected to take the survey were random and not in the two categories mentioned above. The group containing two people drove to Portofino Beach and administer the survey. On Sunday, the remaining two beaches were surveyed, including Avenida 18 and parking lot H. Each member of the group had a lanyard with a student ID for verification. An educational blurb was handed out to all participants after the survey to raise awareness about the value of sand dunes. Notes and descriptions of the beach was added to the dataset for our final findings. Photographs of the study sites were also be taken to add into the final report. After all the data is collected, the group used an Excel program to do statistical analyses on the data, and use IBM program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) when needed for
