While in National Honors Society my junior year I was involved in a can food drive which raised over five thousand pounds of food to go to homeless shelters in our area. This experience showed me the joys of helping others and the satisfaction in can bring to someone. Helping the needy is something I would want to continue at Penn State in programs such as Food Recovery Network and Anti-Hunger Games, giving food to local shelters and families who need it. Toward the end of my junior year I was involved in a race that helped raise money for the Spring Grove Area Scholarship foundation. On the student board for the race I learned valuable skills of working with others toward a final goal and how to work with a community for a project. I would use these skills I have learned at Penn State to becoming actively involved in the culture of the students, becoming an active member of the student body. By going to Penn State I could achieve my goals of becoming a better student academically as well as becoming a better student socially by emerging myself in the many clubs and organizations of Penn State. Based on my current and past experiences I believe that I could succeed at Penn
