True, aspiring teachers would definitely benefit from the course, however, the skills developed throughout a semester as a tutor, are skills that are essential and transferable to any chosen career path. Any student, no matter his or her ambitions, can profit equally from enrolling, and I’d strongly recommend anyone invited to join, to do so.

Student Success also provides its team with a way of improving upon their communication skills, particularly when it comes to explaining specific concepts to others. Understanding a unit in school, and being able to teach it to another student do not necessarily go hand in hand. I learned this very quickly in the early weeks of the course. It’s one thing to listen in class, and do well on an exam, but the true attestation of your knowledge comes through the ability to effectively communicate the ideas to someone else. Having the opportunity to personally review units from previous years, and practice applying and explaining them aloud, will help engrain the information in your mind, making you more apt to use it in future

However, after the administration of the QRI-5, I learned that Jamie is on an independent level for word recognition and is on the instructional comprehension level. By the post-assessment Jamie could still read with an independent word recognition but her comprehension core decreased to frustration. The first QRI-5 that was administered the student was unfamiliar with the reading with a low 33%. The first week as a U-100 mentor has been great. On the first day of class as a U-100 mentor, I can honestly say that I was very nervous as well as very anxious. However, the nervousness and anxiety quickly faded away after meeting with the U-100 instructor before class. What made things better was when the instructor explained what she expected from my part as u-100 mentor, but more importantly, allowing me to contribute in class discussions when I felt it was right. Therefore, I did not feel a sense of pressure to have to talk every other minute.…

The difference that I wanted to make could be as simple as helping someone ace a test, but the news of mentoring threw me off track.
