Method: Six students ranging from 6 to 7 years old were chosen from a local day care to a be peer tutors to teach firearm safety. They were peer tutors to six students between 4 to 5 years of age.
Procedures: Both the peer tutors and the students were assessed before training to determine a baseline. The peer tutors were then educated by professional trainers about gun safety strategies. The professional trainers used lectures, modeling, acting out scenarios and positive feedback in teaching the peer tutors. The tutors would then teach the students about gun safety.
