This past semester has been challenging in different aspects. When I first began this course, I expected it to be my easiest class and an overall “guaranteed A”. However, as the course progressed it because one of my most difficult courses. The difficulties that I had to overcome were expressed in the progressions of my writings and the transition between being a self-reviewer to a peer reviewer. Before I proceed to the reflection of my favorite writing pieces, I would first like to discuss the enjoyable parts of this course. The first thing that I loved about this course is that there was no required textbook. This was an amazing gift in my opinion because in a lot of cases each of my professors assign a three-hundred-dollar textbook that …show more content…
As mentioned above, I loved the major writing assignments. However, in addition to these assignment, we were also delegated the task of completing nightly reflections of an online reading. I did not find this portion of the course favorable because I often could not fine the correlation between the reflection and the major writing assignments. Also, in comes cases I felt like the reflections were a distraction from the major writing assignments. In my opinion, the time spent on the reflections could have been spent going deeper into the major writing assignments and the core of the course objective. Moreover, I personally don’t believe that the reflections increased my knowledge of literature or writing …show more content…
During this writing I was supposed to explain my educational experiences and what impact that have had on my development as a person in this assignment I was given the freedom to critique education as a whole and express the best form of education. Within my essay I decided to break down the meaning of education and prose the question of what true education is? In my opinion everything is and educational experience and education and a whole should not be boxed into a degree or class. In fact, I did not refer to any in class experience at all because I believe that I learned more impactful lessons from outside experiences. In reflection, I now see that my original piece was extremely scattered. This caused the main point to be difficult to recognize and unclear. However, this assignment deeply increased my ability to supply details since I was discussing my past and some aspects of my childhood. Furthermore, the details within my unsubmitted first draft were double the page limit for this assignment. Additionally, this assignment set my footing for the rest of the course and pushed me to become more comfortable within detailed

In completing the course English 112 at Robeson Community College, I have found myself with a new found understanding how to write various genres, and do them well. Newly, I have experienced the handling of opinion writing, research writing, and direct analyzation writing. These concepts greatly helped me achieve the knowledge of love in writing. Because I am working with humans, I need full permission from the institutional review board to carry out my study. The institutional review board will inform me if my experiment is appropriate to continue, which may take up to a month to confirm. If my experiment does not pass the IRB, additional time for my experiment will be necessary to make proper and efficient adjustments. Each sample group is on the East Coast, however we do intend to travel to the location each research team is assigned too. Geographically, the sample groups are close and easy to communicate with through phones and emails.…

In "The Maker's Eye: Reviewing your own Manuscript" by Donald M. Murray, managed to capture what happens in any review process. He emphasizes the importance of rereading and then rewriting his work until it is at its peak; Above all, Murray says that the first draft is nothing more than a sketch. I think the purpose of this essay is to inform both students and professional writers about the importance of personal review because no one is more critical than the creator. This ongoing process can be used by writers of all ages and it is critical that aspiring writers understand how long a particular job can last to complete.…

The debate on the importance of Liberal Arts is dear to my heart because of the impact my high school Humanities class had on me. Because of this, I had no difficulty forming an opinion in the debate and seeing the flaws in arguments against Liberal Arts. However, analyzing the flaws in an argument I agree with was harder than expected, but with the use of rhetorical analysis I was able to see the strong and weak points in the article. This allowed me to create a strong response that portrays my opinion in relation to the article’s arguments. Peer review was helpful because the process brought to light multiple grammar issues.…

Peer Review Responses I am reviewing Maseo’s work and he chose the prompt that says, “you might respond specifically regarding your own life, or you may respond in theory.” On the other hand, he used few supports, but did not use them in the best way because he did not give further explanations about how they related to his life or worldview. Whenever he uses the source he does not give enough details that can convince the reader. Some of them, he explained little but they require more persuasive information that makes the reader to be interested of the idea and be able to continue it. He come up a create quotes from the articles or speech, but they are missing some details, which make them irreverent while the reader is reading the essay.…

I hope my portfolio will serve as a helpful source for me to refer back to in future classes, and aid as a guide for future students and their journey through college. I had pre-determined how I would approach this class and what I was going to do, so never once did I expect to learn something useful.…

Peer review is not efficient with regards to time consumption. Peer review is highly subject to both personal and professional bias. The process can be a rather expensive way to verify research. These are all deficiencies that, while certainly problematic, are acceptable side effects of effectively reviewed work. However, from much of the ISP Fall reading collection, it is beyond reasonable to extract that the peer review process is not achieving that final goal effectively enough.…

At the beginning of the semester, I viewed myself as a creative writer. After attending this class I realized that there is a lot more that goes into writing an essay, or a research paper, than just creativity alone. I have learned that it is very important to be aware of my strengths and weaknesses in my writing. Taking this class has helped me understand the strengths and weaknesses in my writing skills, and it has given me the opportunity to strengthen the areas in which I was weak. An example of this is that I have become aware of my grammar and spelling errors as the semester progressed.…

Writing an essay about my experience as a writer and how I feel when I write. I thought should be a breeze until, I received my grade back. It was not a horrible grade, nor what I was expecting. To be an essay, it must include an introduction paragraph that ends with a thesis/focus sentence, supporting body paragraphs, and a conclusion paragraph.”…

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing. While in high school I would usually write all of my essays a day before the due date a habit of mine that was very difficult to overcome, but now I have learned from my mistakes.…
