When transitioning to UGA as a freshman, I had tons of questions about the campus and things to do in Athens and didn’t know who to ask. I know I would have benefited from the Peer mentor program and wish it was available when I was a freshman. I want to be a peer mentor because I want to ease the often scary transition from high school to college for a new freshman. When I was a freshman, I spent most of my time either in class, at the dining hall, or in my dorm. I didn’t branch out because I didn’t know what else there was to do on weekends besides football games and I ended up going home most weekends.
