Peer evaluation. Two words I absolutely hated to hear in high school. A peer evaluation in high school were when all the smart kids pick a part your paper and basically told you to start all over. This lowered my self-esteem a lot and made me dread going into school those days we did peer evaluations. Some people might say it was only high school, but that was the schooling that set me up for college. So when I came into college and heard the words “peer evaluations”, my skin began to crawl. I was not sure I really wanted to hand in my papers and let other read them. So often my classmates in high school would be harsh just because they were not a fan of me, as a person. Proof reading gave me the chance to read other people’s mistakes and learn from what they have done. I had the ability to read other’s mistakes, correct them, and then correct my own as well. Slowly I was able to catch little mistakes I would make in the beginning of the school year. I also found it useful to have the teacher’s assistance teaching me how to read with purpose. This has expand my knowledge of proof reading, I also was able to see that there was much more than just being spellcheck and the comma Nazi. Reading someone’s paper gives you a deeper understanding of the person who is writing, correcting where they may have gone astray, and always the help you receive in
