Peer Editing: A Positive Experience

Decent Essays
My experience with peer editing has overall been a positive experience for a couple reasons, the first being the ideas another person brings to your writing. My peers have always been supportive and helpful with my papers when it comes to my ideas not being totally organized. Getting another opinion has always been something that I have found helpful when I am writing, especially when my paper has not been completely finished. Although, when my paper is finished and I go through peer editing I get a little nervous. I get nervous because I have put so much work into this one paper and the thought of a peer saying something negative about my paper makes me anxious. The nerves go away once I realize that what my classmate is telling me is not

Significant ideas with the relationships, that nurses use every day, include sharing information or education, working together in partnerships, authority (who is in charge?), and being able to be accountable independently or in a group. I really appreciated the feedback I would receive from my drafts from Professor Hedge. The draft feedback was always helpful and it guided me in the right direction on what she was looking for in the assignments. Peer workshops sometimes did benefit me but it depended on who my partner was and their interest in my essay. When I was partners with someone who was interest in what I had to say in my essay it helped. Even though my contributions to the intellectual life of the class might have not been the best I believe that they were helpful not only to me but to some of my peers. Specifically in the peer reviews, I felt that those were crucial to the class, because every student had the opportunity to read and analyze another’s paper. By giving helpful criticism to someone else 's paper we were all receiving a new view into the type of essay we needed to be writing, therefore giving our own essays a new point of view to revise with. Consequently, peer reviews helped me learn to communicate better because I really wanted to give constructive criticism that my peers would find helpful towards improving their essays, so that I could also receive some in exchange. For example in the last essay I wrote one of the critics that I had was that one of my paragraphs was all wrong and that it really just did not mean much.…

A peer mentor is defined as a person who uses their resources to support, encourage and inform someone. Going into this semester, I was unaware that I would be mentoring another student and thus doubted my abilities. Although I was excited to become a mentor, I questioned whether I would truly be able to make a difference in someone’s life. The difference that I wanted to make could be as simple as helping someone ace a test, but the news of mentoring threw me off track. Nonetheless, I gathered myself and tried to maintain a positive attitude.…

Area of strength An area of strength for my teaching practice would be the different teaching methods and multiple forms of literacy that I’ve included in the lessons, as I have been trying to do a different activity for each lessons, or includes visual, music, and videos in the lessons to give students different approaches to the contents.
