I read a story earlier in the week called June, Reviving Ophelia, by Mary Pipher that reminded me of Jimenez in a statement of how “They were terrible. Not so much mean, as totally indifferent. I didn’t exist for them” (313), as if she had Pedro in mind dealing with his situation while writing her story, I could see how Jimenez could totally understand and relate to what June went through. Ophelia and Jimenez both faced obstacles and will continue to overcome no matter which angle they look at their situation
