Pediatrician Personal Statement

To me, the ability to help children across the world is one major compelling factor in the desire to become a pediatric physician. I love children and I am really interested in taking this gift to different nations or countries where health care for children is an after thought or might not be able to be easily afforded. I believe that in a more globalized world and in a realm where strict borders are disappearing, the need to provide more care for future generations through pediatricians is a very powerful factor.
To be interested in working with children, I volunteered in the Child Life center at New York Presbyterian Hospital. My responsibility was preparing a joyful environment for sick children, e.g. by providing toys and coloring/painting

My experiences, academic background and personality are three key aspects of my life that make the medical field a preference and a particularly suitable field for me. My interest in medicine was first sparked when I volunteered at CentraState Medical Center working with geriatric patients. To further explore this interest, I joined the First Aid Squad in my town. Riding on ambulances and volunteering at the squad provided much-needed insight into the field and taught me valuable skills, such as patient care and effective communication. After completing a four-month intensive EMT course and state exam, I can proudly say that I am now a New Jersey certified EMT.…
