Responsibilities
As an Employee, you will read over the following responsibilities that we ask of all technicians and then followed by a short video detailing the criteria. At the beginning of any shift, the technician must first check in with the nursing supervisor to see if your services are needed within the Pediatric Department or the Emergency Department. This is determined by the Nurse to Patient ratio. If you are to stay within the pediatric department, you ask the Nurses if they are in need of anything to be stocked or taken care of. If they are unaware of any- thing missing or that needs to get done you will take it upon yourself to go through the entire department and check.

All technicians are trained in phlebotomy and will obtain blood samples when asked to do so. All technicians are trained in obtaining urine and stool samples and testing for abnormalities. Vital signs, height, weight and vision testing is to be performed by Technician, and any abnormal findings reported to nurse or Doctor caring for the patient. When a patient who is in admitted or being seen for respiratory or cardiac related illness the technician must place the patient on oxygen, cardiac monitors or cardiac monitoring, when granted, the Physician will have the Technician get an Electrocardiogram on a patient.
