They also realize that the amount of education that the nurses had received about pain management had not been taken into consideration. The nurses who had an interest in pain management may have been the ones who agreed to participate in the research study. If the nurse did not have an interest in pain management, he or she might not have chosen to participate and therefore the results could have been much lower. When evaluating the nurse’s knowledge, the researchers agreed that the knowledge deficit on pain management, which was identified at less than 85%, should be investigated. Further education and research would benefit the pediatric nurses and the patients. The majority of survey responders were women. I think this is a cultural issue because society often stereotypes nurses as women. Some people believe that women should be nurses and men should be doctors. The out of the 25 participants only two were men. In my opinion, I believe that this study does not give a broad overview on how different gendered nurses across the world manage pain. The results found in the study can not accurately account for hospitals that exist across the world. Another cultural issue that occurred in this study is that ethnicity was not accounted for.
