Pediatric Oncology Career Plan

Going into the career of a pediatric oncology nursing students need to know the day to day responsibilities and expectations of the job. The most important part about the job is to observe the child to make sure they are in good enough health for chemotherapy. Also to educate the patient and the family to try and make them as comfortable as you can. Dealing with children with cancer can be a challenging and emotional job. Being emotionally strong is needed to being successful in the job. Not all children survive cancer, approximately 12% of children diagnosed with cancer do not survive. Children and families have a lot of emotion when dealing with cancer, understanding their circumstances and having empathy for the family makes the situation
