Dr. Nicole Sherry Director of the Pediatric Diabetes Center at Massachusetts General Hospital Dr. Nicole Sherry is the Director of the Pediatric Diabetes Center at MGH. She is particularly interested in type 1 diabetes and has run immune therapy trials in an effort to preserve beta cells in type 1 diabetes. She also has worked on the Data Safety and Monitoring Board for the artificial pancreas project at MGH and is very interested in improving technology around diabetes. Finally she has experience setting up hospital policies such as for DKA and insulin therapy using carbohydrate and correction algorithms and is interested in the clinical care of children and adolescents with type 1 and type 2 diabetes.

I Started at Massachusetts / Cambridge hoping that I would take up engineering or Sciences or medical school As the time progressed I felt like med school was my calling .I took it also because it was a better trade off than the programming where in my relations would be limited whereas here I would have a lot of inter personal relationship with my patients , which I just love...

2.)What about Residency ??

(In her words )... In the medical school I wanted to take up a internal medicine or OBGYN but hanging out with children was interesting and I really loved that part .so I preferred Pediatric. Later on I felt I was unable to do better service as just a pediatrician and so opted for pediatric endocrinology wherein I am a lot more than happy as I could really create an impact and more over everyday fascinating cases and challenging diagnoses ..

3.) What suggestions would you like to give to the people who aspire to be you??

Well pediatric endocrinology is a fascinating branch , highly respected but it might not be a good trade off for everyone especially in Indian context whereas in my set up its better.
