Pedestrian Accident in D.C. Claims Life Of Restaurant Owner

WJLA is reporting that a prominent restaurant owner was killed in a pedestrian accident. Armin Amin-Toomaji died from injuries sustained when a car struck him as he crossed the street at Ninth Street and P Street NW. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Deaths From Pedestrian Accidents Increasing

The Centers for Disease Control reports that 4,735 individuals died in pedestrian accidents during 2013. This averaged about approximately one death every two hours. In addition to pedestrian fatalities, over 150,000 people were injured in pedestrian accident that year. An annual study by the Governors Highway Safety Association
