Some students benefit by taking down notes and the rest by having a hands on learning experience. One of the learning methods stated is called the banking concept, and the other is called the problem posing method. The author uses these two educational practice methods to describe the differences, and how each of these concepts affect a student’s learning ability. In the banking method there is no interaction between the student and the teacher. The student listens to the lecture by taking notes and memorizes the text in order to pass an exam. Many students do not understand what they are learning and does understand the concept of what was taught in the lecture. Freire describes this teaching method as dull, and that as a result many students’ minds end up wandering in class because they are only taking down notes which they will later memorize. The author criticizes this method throughout the book. The author’s solution to this problem is the teaching method problem posing, where the instructor or the teacher lectures during class and when done, presents the class with the material related to the lecture which opens the class for discussion. The students then interact with the teacher and with the rest of the students in the class. This is known as the dialogical education where the student and the teacher builds a strong relationship where the student learns from the teacher and the teacher learns from the student. For example, the teacher is able teach the specific subject by after studying the way a student absorbs knowledge. Some learn through hands on experience and others by visual, hearing, and note taking which is writing. As a student myself, I have experienced both the learning methods, banking and the problem posing. When I was attending high school, I took a programming class where the students are
