Pectin Vs. Xanthan Gum And Guar G

Decent Essays
Newton AMJ et al were designed to develop a delayed release matrix tablets by using various natural polymers. The polysaccharide Pectin was used in the formulation Vs. Xanthan gum and Guar gum. The performance of Pectin Vs. other conventional polysaccharides was demonstrated in this work. A model drug Propranolol HCl was incorporated in the formulation design in order to access the drug release profile from the developed matrix system. The polysaccharide based formulation are known for stability issues and manufacturing difficulties. The research was focused on developing industrially relevant direct compression techniques. The polymers were used in different concentration ratios to optimize the best formulation design.

When the tablet is swallowed, the overcoat of the drug will dissolve quickly and the initial release can increase the drug concentration rapidly and it is similar to the stranded release formulation. Then, the beneath layer of drug is a coat with a semi-permeable membrane which can absorb water by osmosis and some of the drugs are a polymer-based coat with a hole on one side or a porous membrane. In the interior of the tablet, the compartment will dissolve from low concentration to high concentration. Therefore, the initial release from the outer coat causes a rapid rise in the plasma concentration which ensures the quick onset of action occurred. The interior part keep releasing by the concentration, therefore, it makes the plasma drug concentration stable and stays between the minimum effective concentration (MEC) and toxic concentration (MTC).…

2- The fluctuations in plasma drug concentration are minimized and side effect associates with concentration are also minimized. 3- Complete absorption of drug from the floating formulation is expected even at alkaline pH of intestine. The dissolution occurs in gastric fluid and after emptying of the stomach contents the dissolved drug is available for absorption in small intestine. 4- Because of site‐specific absorption from the upper part of the GIT, Drugs that have poor bioavailability are potential candidates to be formulated as floating drug delivery systems, thereby maximizing their absorption.…

Pharmaceuticals such as antihyperglycemic medications may also be an option to keep blood sugar levels on track. Oral antidiabetic agent metformin and glyburide have shown efficacy with no evidence of harm to the foetus, although long-term safety remains a concern (28.) When comparing to two, metformin was a 2.1 times higher failure rate than glyburide. Metformin works by decreasing the amount of glucose the liver makes, keeping blood sugar levels low and boosting insulin response. Although metformin does cross the placenta and enter the baby’s bloodstream, the amount is small. Studies have not found evidence to suggest that metformin harms the fetus.…

Analgesic drugs contain an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) that provides it with the pharmacological properties. Active pharmaceutical ingredients consist of acetylsalicylic acid, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or naproxen. These ingredients are also Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs) that are non-narcotic relievers of mild to moderate pain (Medicinenet). The purpose of this experiment was to separate an active pharmaceutical ingredient from an analgesic drug using extraction with methanol. The mobile phase, methanol, dissolves the pure form of the drug which contains polar functional groups.…

The surge function made it simple to see a general absorption/clearance rate and maximum concentration level of a drug, despite not considering different physical features of individuals. Laxatives were researched, and a mathematical model (Figure 7 and 8) were made to represent fast acting medical grade and slow acting non-prescribed Laxatives. Furthermore, the effect of changing certain parameters (‘’ and ‘’) on the drugs bloodstream concentration, time of administration, absorption rate and clearance rate, were clearly…

Beside PEG, some other polymers which have a linear structure such as polyglutamic acid, polysaccharide have been utilized as polymeric drug delivery carriers. Also some complexes contain of drug and macromolecule which have a hydrodynamic size range between 5–200 nm have been used as drug carriers. One of these conjugates is Abraxane®, an albumin-conjugate paclitaxel drug, that is utilized as a therapeutic agent for patients suffering from breast cancer.145 It was demonstrated that using Abraxane® caused to increase the rate of therapeutic effects and also enhance the time which required for progression of disease and survival in patients suffering from breast cancer.…
