There are many characters in The Scarlet Letter, from townspeople, the Reverend, and a physician. One of the main characters is the infant that was born due to sin. Her name was Pearl; her mother chose that name because she felt she that Pearl was truly the greatest gift, for she took everything away from her mother and was all that she had. Throughout the novel, the reader can see Pearl grow up and see things that Pearl finds an interest in.
