Japan and the United States were allies, tension had been growing for decades and the United States was unhappy with the Japanese government that acted aggressively towards China. So the Japanese government believed that the only way they could fix their economy and demographic problems were to take over China. However, the United States didn’t like that act and responded with aggression, such as; violence, economic sanctions, and trade embargoes. So then, the United States and Japan argued that without access to money and goods, Japan would have to take care of their territory by themselves. During this “conversation”, neither side reached an agreement. Therefore, it seemed that war was inevitable.
