Peaceful Resistance Research Paper

Peaceful resistance positively impact a free society. First of all, the point of a free society is that you have freedom and can speak your voice, as long as doing so peacefully. Without peaceful resistance, more people would not be educated about certain issues, such as, Pro-life vs Pro-choice or Republicans vs Democrats. Peaceful resistance is a good way to bring people in the nation together. Citizens will realize that they share a lot of same beliefs with other people in their nation, and begin to reach out to others. When people use peaceful resistance, they are more likely to achieve their goal, because people can focus on what they are saying instead of the actions that they are using to get their point across. Peaceful resistance is also successful at getting attention because people have subtle boycotts. If a huge group of people decide to peaceful resist going to Walmart, then Walmart will lose a huge number of customers, and need to listen to how to satisfy what their customers want. The government is the same way, if people peacefully resist something in the government, the government will have to listen because a free society is suppose to be ran off of what is best for its people. Peaceful resistance is also more likely to gain followers that violent resistance because people tend to be scared of violence and do not want to get caught up in that kind of action. With groups that have come to power with peaceful resistance, they are much more respected than those who have come to power with non-peaceful resistance.
