Great names like Martin Luther King Jr., Muhamad Ali and Rosa Parks are all examples of people who resisted and demonstrated their beliefs peacefully. Martin Luther King Jr. resisted the norms of society of that time peacefully by having a march. “On August 28, 1963, more than 200,000 Americans gathered in Washington, D.C., for a political rally known as the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (History.com).” By doing this Martin Luther king not only became one of the largest influence on our society for equal rights but as a role model for our society. Muhammad Ali was not only a great fighter but he showed a great example of standing up for what he believed without doing it violently and taking reasonability for his actions. “Ali never dodged the draft; he opposed it, accepting the legal consequences without any attempt to evade them. He didn’t flee to Canada or enroll in college to obtain a deferment. From the moment, he learned of his induction, Ali stood firmly in the proud tradition of civil disobedience, saying “just take me to jail.” (Mullen).” Ali’s action towards the draft was unjust but he stood for what he believes in and took whatever action needed to stand for his belief peacefully. That is what the United States is founded upon, the right to stand for your own beliefs if it does not do damage or violate others
