Peaceful Or Civil Disobedience

Peaceful resistance positively impacts our society because it unites people that are willing to fight for what is right or what they believe in. A free society would not really be a free society if they were not allowed to think freely and express their opinions. There is a lot of people who hate violence, so peaceful disobedience has multiple ways to get what intended. If the government thinks that people will not fight against a certain matter that is not correct, they will not do anything to change it. Peaceful or non-violent disobedience has been going on for hundreds of years. It has marked history in unimaginable ways, to the point where we probably would not be today if it weren’t for it. For example, whenever somebody gets into an argument, it could go both ways. It either turns into a worse argument, or the argument will ease. In most cases, people get into really bad arguments when a person’s attitude is a very bad one. On the other hand, it is easier to say an argument will not turn out to be such a bad one whenever a person is calm. This is how peaceful disobedience against the law works, the people will not use violence but will use the rights they know they have to fight a cause. To this day, there are protests for everything like there should be. Recent protests have been going on all around the United States. For example, in the white house, “Fifty-two environmental activists were arrested Monday in front of the White House as part of an ongoing protest calling on the Obama administration to reject a permit for the 1,700-mile Keystone XL pipeline project.” People now know and learn that even if it is for things that not everyone pays attention to, if it comes down to protesting there will be attention drawn and the government will be forced to look into the issue.
