Pbl Personal Statement

I returned to college to complete my prerequisites for physical therapy school, where I was first introduced to the PBL curriculum. I became a tutor for the Learning Assistant Center at City College of San Francisco, and shortly thereafter became a teaching assistant for my Anatomy professor. In these settings, I was utilized the PBL approach where my scientific knowledge had greatly expanded. I facilitated group demonstrations of the human cadaver, tutored students in and out of class, and made anatomy relatable and understanding to my peers.

I developed leadership skills as I assumed more responsibility, and applied all the knowledge I learned from lab to various clinical settings including at the Veterans Affairs hospital and the San Francisco

I am interesting in applying to PLFSOM because I have a desire to ultimately become a primary care physician that works in underserved communities. Coming from a rural area, I know what a lack of providers in a region can do to a community. I have spent a lot of time in border towns since my dads family is originally from Mexico and I have been able to see first hand that even the biggest of border towns still has a very big proportion of their population that is underserved. Right now, I already use my Spanish to help the Spanish speaking patients that we see at our clinic but my Spanish medical terminology is not as strong as I would like. Being able to get my medical education from a school so close to the border would help me become the…

I first heard of ASMS through one of my previous ninth grade teachers, Mrs.Howard, who had both of her children go there. Highly recommending it she handed me a packet telling more about the school, which i continued to learn that it seemed to be just the right school. After looking deeply into the school and discovering its amaizing academic and extracurricular programs I was astonished. When I brought up the school every single person I knew said it was right for me and that I needed to take the chance when I could. So I decided to apply for the school to help with my goal to a career in astrophysics or aerospace engineering.…

I quickly discovered my passion for children and this field through the past two years of work experience at the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home (LBCH). I am fortunate enough to be the recreation leader, lifeguard, and math tutor of a diverse group of kids with heart-wrenching upbringings, circumstances, and for some, communication setbacks. My inner longing to provide more assistance to them communication-wise grows daily. The knowledge I am obtaining at ULM, the child-interaction skills I am gaining through the LBCH, and the God-given love and compassion for people all contribute and work simultaneously towards thriving…

Choosing the right college was extremely difficult when I was a senior in high school; the only factor I was looking into for my decision-making process was a close kit college. Therefore, I began touring multiple small universities, which brought me to Gwynedd Mercy University. One particular moment really drew me into Gwynedd was when I was with my tour guide. As the tour went on, I watched as she greeted everyone she passed, and the overall friendly and familial nature of the students and the campus became very apparent. By the conclusion of the tour I had already sent in my paperwork to attend the following semester.…
