Payton’s Chance
“Hold your core, point your toes and land softly like a swan.” Yelled Professor G over and over, Payton decided she would try and block off the world and just dance. Payton was a first year at the Australian Ballet Company. She had clear green eyes with warm brown and gold flecks coursing through them like blood. She had long, silky brown hair that had a slight red tinge to it.
All of Payton’s life she had danced. She grew up in a family with all boys; her father and her two slightly younger twin brothers. Her mother had sadly passed away when Payton was only two years old, right after the twins were born, so Payton had to step up in place of her. Dancing was her only escape.

No need to get worked up about it. Alana Ecolopolis, the person who pushed you, has been dealt with and sent back to her family. As I was saying, when you fell, you snapped your neck, which is why you are wearing that brace.” Payton tried to look down at her neck but was unpleasantly surprised when she couldn’t. Doctor Reynolds continued for a while longer and then he said something that took Payton completely off guard.
“…You will not be able to perform in your upcoming concert. You cannot afford to injure your neck any more. Thank you for your time, I must be going.”
As soon as Doctor Reynolds left, Payton burst into an ocean of transparent tears. She thought about all of the scouts watching her, looking for new talent and how she wouldn’t be able to perform for them anymore. This was her one chance to make her mother proud, and it was gone. Payton wiped the trickling crystal tears off her face and told herself to stop trying to change the inevitable and be strong. Payton suddenly had a truly enlightening thought.
“Mrs. V had this exact same problem before she started teaching. The big concert is in three months, she recovered in two.” Payton said aloud to no one in particular. Payton sat bolt upright and called Mrs. V faster than the speed of

Honestly, I’ll come right out and admit that I have never been the Detroit Lion’s number one fan, or any football fan for that matter. Sure, I had technically gone to each of the homecoming games both years in high school, but only for the sole excuse of being able to put some red war paint on my face and attempt to catch up with some friends. The only exposure I had to the sport was walking through the doors of Phase Three during cross country season. Day after day, I was forced to push through groups of teenage guys reeking with a putrid stench of dried sweat, rotting eggs, and grass stains; the smell in itself was enough to make my eyes water.…

In one scene, he was lying in bed trying to go to bed and he kept whispering “prepare” to himself, something Mrs. Wilkinson told him during class one day. His dancing endured long term as he systematically pursued it, and it permeated his everyday life; he danced everywhere he went, and when he got really angry, he danced through it (before kicking out the bathroom door). He identified as a dancer, and put significant effort into it; as his dad proudly told the Royal Ballet School Board, he practiced every day after school. He continued to persevere through his struggles; at the beginning of the movie, when he first started dancing, he fell over and over and over again, but he kept trying. He did eventually have a career in this leisure film; the final scene was him, older, professionally dancing in the Black Swan (which was really cool since Mrs. Wilkinson had told him about it earlier in the film; the black swan symbolized Billy because the swan was forced to be a swan during the day until at night, when it could finally dance.…

The central idea is to inform adults, specifically teachers and parents, on how schools kill creative minds by tapping on the more technical subjects such as Math, Science, and literature. He employed impromptu when giving the speech and used topical as his organizational pattern because his main points could be used in any order without disrupting his tone. Sir Ken Robinson started the speech by making people laugh through humor.…
