I was born and raised in earshot of the headquarters, as my family’s home is on Council in between 122nd and Memorial. I have driven past the company hundreds of times, watching it change from a grassy field that was there for most of my childhood to the sprawling beautiful campus it is today. All the while my passion and pursuit of education in the financial field grew. When I began managing my own investment portfolio at the age of 16 I had no clue what I was doing, but simply loved watching my hard-earned money grow in value. A few years later when Paycom announced their IPO I jumped at the chance to have some ownership in the new public company that was just down the road. My time at SMU has been amazing so far. The Masters of Science program has exceeded any expectation I had coming in, but has also drastically changed what I want out of my career and future. I had always had the common dream of many finance students to break into the investment banking industry and work for one of the top firms in the world. Southern Methodist and the Cox School of Business has absolutely given me that opportunity and I’ve cherished being able to be in the same room with many of these firms. But what it has taught me is that I do not want to work 70+ hours a week and barely have a life outside of my career. It made me realize how much I would like to begin my career in the place I’ve called home my entire
