Also, because he had no job he could not contribute his share of child support. All of these have some factor into why Katrina lives paycheck to paycheck.
Factors such as Jeremy being addicted to painkillers, not having a job and her illness are not situations she can control. However, finishing school before she had children could have potentially been something within her control even factoring in her illness. While, this could be considered a personal choice I am also not aware of her access to birth control or her ability to afford birth control or her access to an abortion clinic, should she have wanted that option. With that in mind I am not sure that finishing school could have been completely within her control.

Her difficulty being readmitted to school, because she needs a note from her doctor explaining why she could not finish school initially is not within her control, but her willingness to try is.
Chris pointed out that she is just scared and her going back to school would benefit them all.
Being a single mother is very difficult though and she does make a point regarding her concerns with being able to care for her kids, work and go to school. Also, she did choose to get her
