Payday is one of the sweetest days of the week, month, or however often you receive that sweet paycheck. A little a year ago I received my my first paycheck and it was so nice seeing money going into my bank account that I earned myself. What I did not realize till a few weeks later, is that saving the money, is hard. Getting a job gives a teenager a small sense of independence because you don't have to depend on your parents for all your "expenses" you have as a teenager; such as relationships, friends, and food. Once I had responsibilities reality hit me in the face and it hit hard.

But the time was coming to where I would have to buy my first car. My Parents and grandparents said they would match half what I saved. My mom would pay half of what I saved and then so would my dad and grandparents, my parents are divorced. I had $1,000 already saved up from doing random stuff for relatives and such over the years, so I knew if I wanted a decent car I needed to save up another $1,000 so I could receive $5,000.
When the money started rolling in, not a lot but it was about $80-$90 a week, I was ecstatic. But being a teenager I had distractions and things that

I could buy some food on my break at work or go home and eat for free. It was difficult because it's easier to just buy some food than going home. Or my friends would be going out to do something, but if I didn't have enough money I wouldn't go, it was the smart thing to do. It was a tough 20 weeks but I made it through. When I did I still had to save some money for insurance every month, but not being "in debt" felt good. But what I didn't realize is that my parents showed me how to be responsible and this will be an important quality to have as an adult. Looking back now, I'm thankful they did

As humans, we tend to be massive consumers, we buy anything that we can buy and sell anything that we can sell. In the 19 years I have been alive, I have lived in three states, five towns, eight houses, and now, two countries. Right before I finished high school my parents decided to move to Guatemala. I welcomed the change because I had been visiting Guatemala every summer since I was 15, and my heart always seemed at peace there. The closest I perpetually felt at home was when I lived in Guatemala, though I resided there for a short time. Every day greeted me with words rolling off my tongue I previously did not know, the taste of delicious and unique foods, and a breathtaking landscape, complete with the view of an active volcano outside of my bedroom window.…

Overall the increase in minimum wage will hurt young people more than anything, because we are the ones that are depending on finding a job with little to no experience. After all we do have to pay for books and gas etc. In order to be able to succeed through college and have a successful life and for some people they pay out of pocket for college and for people that do get financial aid if their parents income rises they will no longer be able to receive financial aid or work as a work study on their college campus. Which will cause a lot of students to drop out because even though their parents income increases doesn’t mean that they can afford to pay out of pocket for books and other things that they need for school. If you ask most people, they will say that you reach adulthood at the age of 18. I believe that I started this transition at 16. Two months before my 16th birthday on a Saturday morning, my mom and I got into the car and she drove me around to the various stores, restaurants, and recreation centers where I told her I wouldn’t mind working. Before I left her in the car she told me that to get a job I must confidently walk up to the nearest employee and ask for the manager. I still had no idea what to do or to say; the whole morning was filled with sweaty hands and a red face.…

My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…
