Summer is right around the corner, and your holiday plans surely include entertaining as well as spending time in the outdoor spaces of your home. You may have already cleaned up your yard, fixed the lawn, done new planting, and treated your deck. It is no surprise that over a period of time your brick or cement pavers start looking worn, dirty or weedy. Without routine care and maintenance, it is possible that the paver blocks even start to shift or get displaced. • Hose down your paving stones with water once every week or two, to keep them clean and tidy.
• Prevent moss and dirt buildup, especially after a long, harsh winter, by pressure washing your paver patio using a 2700 psi washer or greater. Try to steer clear of the grout lines and stick to only the stone surfaces.
• For any stubborn oil stains that can’t be addressed by the pressure washer, use a special oil cleaner or replace that paver, without disturbing the remaining area.
• Conduct an annual inspection of your sand filler and if it is not flush with the pavers, then fill in some more. The sand filler binds the stones together and prevents them from getting displaced.
• Check for cracks or chips in the paving stones and replace the damaged ones with new paving stones.
• Use paving sealer, once every two to three years. In addition to keeping bugs away, it prevents grass from growing in between the cracks, and makes it easy to keep the pavers
