Paulina Lee Research Paper

On Thursday July 3, 2003, thirteen-year-old Paulina Lee’s mother, Christine, asked her to run over to the mini-mart across the street from their house and buy plastic plates. She gave her daughter ten dollars to spend. At approximately 6:40 pm, Paulina left her house to go to the store, but she never arrived. No witnesses ever came forward.

Paulina Lee was missing for 102 days when her body was found one week ago, 47 miles from her home in the woods by a couple hiking. She was brutally murdered and sexually assaulted. Her throat was shot in the back of the head and twice more in her back. Her shoes was missing. She was blindfolded with a purple scarf, and the twenty dollar bill was in her back pocket. A crumpled up receipt of the scarf was found near her body. The blindfold was bought from a Rite-Aid half a mile from Paulina’s home, and the CCTV footage of the day the scarf was bought, June 29, indicated that a six-foot, Caucasian man in his late thirties was the murderer. The footage was too blurry to make out the face. The man was wearing a FedEx Express uniform. The footage was shown to the head of the only FedEx center in town, and the suspects were narrowed down to three men -- Thomas Haak, Mason Neal, and Sebastian Prince.
