In “ The Ethics of Eating Meat” by Paul Schwennesen argues that eating meat is ethical, because he is a ranch owner, and has experienced rising and slaughtering animals for food. Shwennesen states, “I neither rejoice in the blood nor shy from it. This is life. this is ethics” (178). Being a ranch owner, he realizes what happens during the slaughtering process, but does it in a more healthful way that even is open to “recovering vegetarians”. I have always believed that eating meat can be okay, until i realized the bad consequences. I agree that eating meat is ethical, if is peppered properly because my experience becoming a vegetarian, and knowing the raising process confirms it. “Is there an ethical distinction between the deaths caused by a yeoman farmer who grimly butchers a hog in the fall and a minimum-wage factory worker who mechanically butchers six thousand in a morning?” (Schwennesen 179). …show more content…
I am a vegetarian because it very unhealthful to be consuming processed meats, and most meat is processed and made in a factory. There is a better way to raise and kill animals for food, and that is on a farm, where animals are grass fed and have no artificial ingredients. I know this because my grandpa used to work on a farm. In Schwennesen’s views, “My meat-eating is ethical, in the sense that it is not gratuitous; I understand intimately the implications and contradictions of my consumption. I know how it is that my beeves are born, the grasses they like and the ones they don’t”(178). order for eating meat to ethical, it has to be natural, and raised on a farm naturally and organically. This is better for the animals, and therefore better for the people consuming
