World War 2 is estimated to have killed 50 million people. At the time that was 3% of the world’s population. It is the deadliest war ever. It is quite shocking why people do this to each other. God wanted love in the world, in fact, John 3:16 Says, “For God so loved the world, [a] that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.” I don’t think God wanted us to destroy and kill each other because of a leader. It shows just how powerful leaders can be. The Egyptians had a leader who claimed that he was a god and people started believing in his religion. He gained all the power in Egypt and ended up becoming Pharaoh. That’s just one example, there were others in Rome, Persia Greece, and Syria. If one person would deny the leaders in Rome, they would be killed in public. But we’re not going to be talking about Rome or Egypt, we will be talking about people who gave up the dream life, to go serve in the military. And one of those people, is Paul Kimball. Kimball grew up in Tustin on Mountain View street not too far from his dad’s lumber company. He was an honor student at Tustin High School and was part of the broadcasting crew. The French and British army was defeated. Meanwhile, in the U.S. Leo Szilard and Albert Einstein were working on a weapon of mass destruction, The Atomic Bomb. This weapon in the eyes of the Americans would end the war. It has the power to destroy whole cities and more. This was the point in the war when Paul sadly died. The Lusitania was sunk by 3 torpedos. The Ship had been the fastest across the Atlantic ocean and it held a speed record of 31 mph.
