Paul Kalanithi spent most of his life striving toward the future, passionate about both science and writing. Therefore, He majored in English and biology at Stanford and went on to earn a masters degree in English literature. After completing his undergraduate studies he found that medicine was the perfect place for the what interest him and passionate about . In 2013, Paul Kalanithi was just 36 years old when he was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer . Rather than surrender, he embraced life, Paul continued to work as a neurosurgeon and becoming the father of a baby girl. Also, he wrote a memoir When Breath Becomes Air. A book that poignant reflection on love, death, devotion, and a life lived with a purpose.
Paul has spent his life searching an answer for his question. What makes life meaningful ? It is a fascinating question that everyone should answer. Since he was 17, Paul interest were different from his family he wanted to be a writer

During that time , Paul wrote about transition from doctor to patient. He talked about how he feels like he was suddenly at crossroads. He thought he will be able to see the path because he treated so many patients he could follow in their footsteps. However, Paul was totally disoriented rather than a path Paul wrote “I saw instead only a harsh vacant gleaming white desert as if a sand storm had erased all familiarity”.
Towards the end of the book, Paul and his wife made a decision to create a family. The decision of having children after Paul diagnosed was probably the biggest decision Paul and Lucy had made. But Paul kept thinking that “Even if you are dying, until the day you actually die, you’re living”. Since Paul was a thoughtful man, it was crucial for him to know that his wife would have a family after he was gone. Lucy thought that have a child will make it hard for Paul to say goodbye. However, Paul ends her concerns it even will be great if it made it
