Paul McCartney’s Aston Martin was involved in a car wreck in the early hours of November 6 1966, many Beatles’ fans claim that Paul McCartney died in that accident and was replaced by the winner of a recent look-alike contest. The “Paul is Dead” conspiracy theory was developed in 1969, when a college student claimed that The Beatles had been inserting clues about member Paul McCartney’s death in their last couple albums. One clue the student mentions includes, the cover of Abbey Road which some interpret as a funeral scene. Lennon all in white represents the preacher, Starr’s black clothing represents the mourner McCartney’s bare feet and simple clothing identify him as the corpse, and Harrison, dressed in denim, depicts the grave-digger.
