Paul Farmer: Servant Analysis

Improved Essays
Paul Farmer was most certainly a servant leader because of his selfless acts of kindness. Paul wanted to help others in need of his assistance. He even went to the extent of sleeping in the basement of PIH headquarters when he returned to Boston to work at Brigham for a few months at a time; now that’s dedication. The textbook stated, “He was drawn in by the deplorable conditions and lives of the Haitian people and determined to use his time there to learn everything he could about illness and disease afflicting the poor.” (Northouse, P.G. (2014).) Paul devoted his time to help the poor and those diseased individuals living in Haiti; that most certainly is a major quality of a servant leader.

Doing so will have the followers achieve and improve. As any leader, they are responsible for the followers and those that are not on the same level as others. The people served grow as individuals, becoming 'healthier, wiser, more autonomous and more likely themselves to become servants' (Greenleaf, 1977).…

Harvey was followed by millions of Americans during his broadcasting life, and one of his most memorable moments was his broadcast to the Future Farmers of America in 1978.…
