He was the oldest of three boys, he was raised in a reasonable stable family. Kearney lived a trauma free life. Throughout his early age he was a thin sickly child who was often a target for bullies at school. As a teenager he became unsociable and fantasized about killing people. Kearney murdered some children and several of young gay men in Southern California. Kearney would go on long solitary rides on his Volkswagen or his truck. On those long rides , he would pick up young male hitchhikers and young men from gay bars and then later murder them. Patrick Kearney was a necrophile, and disposed of his victims and there remains in a consistent manner. He was only 5’5” Feet tall slightly built. He prefered his victims to be greater stature than his. Kearney used as system of subduing his victims. He tried this method because he felt that this was unlikely to fail or create situations which could place him in danger or cause him to unwanted exposure to authorities. Kearney was not known to sadism or to apply pain on his victims as the other “FreeWay KIllers” did, preferring quickness and efficiency. Kearney seemed to be curious and placed experiments on his victims bodies. He would cut open their stomachs ,and he did do post-mortem and did not inflict any physical suffering. After killing George, Kearney took the body into his bathroom. He dismembered and skinned his body with an X- Acto knife. Kearney then decided to extract the bullet from the victim 's head to make sure that it would not be traced to his gun. He later buried George 's dismembered body behind his garage. Kearney did not kill since then until for over a year following this murder. Primarily out of fear that law enforcement would find out about George 's disappearance. As time went on Kearney seemed to become a pro at killing, he would do this much more frequently and efficiently . At the beginning of nineteen seventy four, Kearney is estimated to have committed murders every month. After picking up victims along highways and gay bars in his volkswagen or in his truck, Kearney would prefer to shoot his victims in the temple above the ear without a bit of a warning. Kearney would use a Derringer .22 pistol in his right hand while steering the truck with his left hand and at the same time he would monitorize the speed limit to lower the predictability of the speed and to avoid any unusual behavior by others.
