David Horn kept up with Shakespeare’s version of word choice, he kept the poetic language and did not convert the word usage to the 2007 slang. Patrick Stewart also does an amazing job speaking in this play, he uses great diction and his accent sounds very spot on. Patrick Stewart has been nominated for many different acting awards and was nominated for Outstanding Performance by Male Actor for Macbeth. The fifth element of The Poetics is music. In this showing of Macbeth, there is not any specific songs. In the beginning, there is a lot of “war music” played. There is a lot of creepy musical elements to this play. There is a scene where the three witches are singing and dancing to creepy sounds in the background. The music element of this play makes everything creepier and more dramatic. The final element of The Poetics is spectacle, or something worth seeing. The 2007 play of Macbeth used great costumes which made the characters seem played out even better. In the play, the three witches are portrayed as 20th century hospital nurses; which, are portrayed incredibly well. They pulled off the modern-day look very nicely. They use a hospital stretcher as a prop to set up the imagery of people dying throughout the play and it pulls together the creepy witch nurse
