Qualities Of A Good Leader

Improved Essays
Many people may ask what is a leader? A leader is someone who can show hard work and has what it takes to get the job done. A leader exhibits confidence, determination and guidance. A leader should have the courage to reach their goals and finish what they started. I believe I demonstrate several leadership qualities such as dependability, integrity, and being proactive. I am undoubtedly dependable and ready to help when people need guidance. Being dependable means knowing how to manage situations and solve problems. For example, my neighbors have counted on me to babysit their children in the mornings while they go to work. These parents count on my dependability to be on time and care for their children which gives them peace of mind while …show more content…
The possession of firm principals ensures you will make the most responsible decisions and do what you truly think is best. Having integrity means a person is honest, trustworthy, reliable, loyal and honorable. To be a leader you must exhibit these characteristics so you are able to lead fairly and justly. For instance, I had to take charge one night and take care of my sisters while my parents were out. I showed integrity because I took them to the park, get food and watched out for them. Without integrity and being dependable I would not have been able to take care of my sisters for the night and keep them safe. Second, I feel like being a natural leader is the trait that is hard to find because it's not something you can see on a paper. These are kind people who are willing to help people around them without being instructed to do so. I recall one night when my aunt and uncle needed to attend a party and they were unable to find a sitter. I decided to step up and volunteer to watch my little cousins without anyone asking me. Being a natural leader is stepping up when no one is watching. Anyone can be a leader in their own way if they just help when people are in need. We would all be in a better …show more content…
People can look up to me and say that I am a leader and make other people want to be a leader. I try to give people inspiration and I am a team leader and want to work with people. Everyone is unique in their own ways and can bring these skills to help you when you are not sure what to do. When you work in a group you should know how to listen to others and everyone should share ideas. I faced many difficult problems which kept me from achieving, but I would work to overcome them and get through it, such as when I had surgery. I had to fight my way through every obstacle, one being school. School has always been hard for me and there were times where I thought that I was not going to graduate because it was too hard. However, my desire for wanting to continue to learn new things and expand my skills and be an inspiration to others keeps me focused. My leadership traits are stronger because of the obstacles I have faced.
In conclusion, there are many different characteristics that make a good leader. There are a variety of different approaches to leadership, but those who succeed in their leadership role are very likely to exhibit the characteristics discussed. I have given examples of how I have showed different leadership qualities such as being dependable, showing integrity, being a natural leader and being

A leader should be someone you look up to and who does the right thing. Anyone can be a leader, but to be a good leader you must be honest, respectful, kind and you must take responsibility of your actions whether they are right or wrong. Leadership and service go hand in hand. Leaders must serve the people they are leading. Being a successful leader requires passion and appreciation; it requires you to have self-awareness, it requires you to find an objective or goal that engages others in a way that is trusting and mindful. Being a successful leader requires people to have faith in the work that you are doing and the values that you believe in. When people that you are leading have faith in you, it gives you as the leader the strength to make the “right decision” for the greater good of the people you are serving. When people believe in you and the work that you are doing as a leader, it helps you tell the truth about yourself and your circumstances, which allows your vision and purpose for leadership to manifest. Similar to what I read about in all three books,…
