Summaries of The Two Speeches Patrick Henry is saying that we need to go to war with the British to gain our freedom otherwise we might as well just die. He wants to fight Britain until they give up their reign over the colonists and allow them to be their own country. The British military buildup in America is to control and to intimidate the Americans. The course of action the colonists must take is to fight back.Working with the British is not a workable solution because they tried compromising and being peaceful but it hasn't worked. Hence why in Henry’s speech he says he judges the future by the past. Patrick Henry is using his speech to try and convince his fellow colonists to declare war on Great Britain.
