Patrick Henry was a man that was an American attorney,planter,and politician. He was also a orator for the Declaration of Independence, and a Founding Father. He did many things in his lifetime that went down in history from leading the Opposition to the Stamp Act to giving one of the best American speeches in the History of America. That speech was the “Give me Liberty…or give me Death!” speech. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cjwonvar-3g) When Henry was 15 he ran a store for his Dad. Though the business didn’t last it did give him a taste of failure and from that he learned. Eventually through the years he married a woman named Sarah Shelton. Then he tried growing tobacco for 3 three years but didn’t have good results in his new “Adventure” either. Then in 1757 a fire burned down Henry and his …show more content…
After a bit of working and helping, Henry was given a request to join the Constitution Convention in Philadelphia, He turned down the request though. Eventually it came time for Virginia to ratify the Constitution, Henry spoke out against it calling it “Dangerous”. But that’s only because he thought it would Damage states’ rights.
People were starting to fear that Henry would have success in his Anti-Constitutional efforts since he had great support in Virginia. Sadly the majority of the lawmakers were not on Henry’s side so the results of the vote were 89-79 votes. In 1790 Henry left public service, he chose to be a lawyer and had a good practice. Then over the years, Henry has received a lot of appointments for such jobs as Supreme Court justice, secretary of state and attorney general, yet he had all turned them down.
